The Animal Rehabilitators Alliance is a non-profit organization that was formed in 2002:

The goals of the Animal Rehabilitators Alliance are to assist rehabilitators in obtaining and maintaining permits, supply rehabilitators with materials and a crew to build cages, help rehabilitators apply for non-profit status, send volunteers when needed, and send animal food and money to rehabilitators when needed.

Being a rehabilitator takes selfless dedication. It takes time, money and love to help these animals in need. The ARA is here to help rehabilitators in any way possible. Our communities depend on rehabilitators. They respond to requests for emergency and non-emergency care from individuals, police departments, health departments and many other government agencies. When they call for help, we are there.

We believe that rehabilitators deserve more for their efforts and are extremely important to society. We want to eventually make it better for them any way we can. If we can grow this will happen, but we need your support. Please sign up to become a member of the ARA and get involved in this important effort!

Our Mission Statement:

Living in the most densely populated urbanized region in the United States, it is reasonable to expect animals and people will increasingly come into contact. These contacts may be positive or negative for both people and animals. Too frequently, contact leaves animals with urgent rehabilitation needs.

The Animal Rehabilitators Alliance is comprised of a diverse group of experts in animal related professions with the goal of:

  • Providing education to the public on procedures when encountering orphaned and injured wildlife
  • Providing education to the public of the need to protect and care for wildlife in open space
  • Informing the public of the role and importance of the work of the Wildlife Rehabilitator
  • Creating and sustaining a facility for the environmental and wildlife education of the people of the industrial East Coast and the rehabilitation of orphaned and injured wildlife
  • Standardizing Wildlife Rehabilitation and wildlife care in New Jersey by providing to rehabilitators direction and guidance, through on site inspections and education and training
  • Striving to serve as a resource for supplies, educational materials, including National Wildlife Rehabilitators Alliance manuals and documents, and assist in new facility set up, facility maintenance, daily animal care, rehabilitation practices and operations.
  • Create a Rehabilitation Facility for Birds and Mammals that is a “Green Building”. The building will be self-sustaining utilizing wind power and solar energy. Organic farming will provide some of the food necessary for feeding the animal patients
